Tax Collector's Office
The Tax Collector directs and administers the statutory and ordinance responsibilities of the office including the planning, organizing, and supervision of the billing and collection of local real estate, motor vehicle, and personal property taxes. This office prepares tax bills from the Grand List furnished by the Assessor; directs the recording and collection of local property taxes, special assessments, liens, and other municipal revenues. In addition, this office administers the Local Elderly Tax Relief Program and bills and collects Bethel Public Utility Billings such as Water and Sewer, Sprinkler and Hydrants and Water and Sewer Assessments. Water meter repairs and service appointments are scheduled through our office. The Tax Collector's Office provides information for banks, attorneys and the general public.

If not paid by February 1, 2012, interest will be charged at 1.5% per month from the due date, or a $2.00 minimum whichever is greater.
Supplemental Motor Vehicle bills are also due January 1, 2012, and if not paid by February 1, 2012 interest will be charged at 1.5% per month from due date, or a $2.00 minimum whichever is greater. Taxpayers can pay by check or credit card online at www.bethelct.org. Follow the online instructions. CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN THE TAX OFFICE The Tax Collector’s Office located at The Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, 1 School Street is open Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 4:30. Mailed payments must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2012. Failure to receive a bill DOES NOT relieve a taxpayer of the obligation to pay taxes or any delinquent charges.
