Regular Programs, Games and Activities

The Bethel Senior Center offers over 40 different activities and classes. Please contact the Senior Center for an up-to-date date and time schedule.

Snow Closings: When the Bethel Schools are closed, so are we.

Exercise
Tai Chi
Wednesdays, 9 am
Instructor Stephen Kuriomai. Cost is $1. All levels/ beginners welcome. This is a wonderful form of exercise. Try it!

Yoga
Wednesdays, 10:45 am
New time and teacher! Eileen Byrnes, an experienced yoga teacher, will conduct yoga class on Wednesdays at 10:45 am. Eileen has been instructing our exercise class for 10 years and has taught yoga professionally for several years. We are very fortunate to have her as our instructor. Cost is $1.

Line Dancing
Tuesdays, 1:30 pm
Our instructor is Lynne Flander. Lynne has been with us for the past few years and her classes are really enjoyed by all. Cost is $1. New students always welcome

Square Dancing
Fridays, 10 am
All levels invited. Culver Griffen is our instructor. He's always wiling to take on new people. If you want to have some fun, join us on Fridays. Cost is $1.

Tap Dancing
Mondays, 9 am
Join us for a great dancing experience. Debbie Burke, our instructor, will teach you if you don't know how or she will help you brush-up. Cost is $1.

Swim at the Wellesley Inn
Mondays and Thursdays, 10 am
Exercise in the water is great. No impact. We are very thankful to the Inn for this wonderful opportunity.

The Bike Club
The Bike Club is a new group to the Senior Center and plans excursions. Check the Special programs page for the next ride.

Creativity and Learning
Craft Classes
March 14th and 21st and every Wednesday in April in 1:00 pm
We will be making Spring Crafts. Kathy has come up with some new ideas - please join us. Throw away those old dusty door and table decorations and make something new for Spring. Cost. $2.

Regular Art Class
Thursdays, 12:30-3 pm
Instructor Adele Moros. Cost per class $2. Adele will help you with any medium and has the patience as well as the talent to teach.

6 Week Art Class
Starting February 26th
Adele Moros is the instructor. Cost: 6 weeks for $25.

6 Week Color Art Class
Starting February 26th
Adele Moros is the instructor Cost: 6 weeks for $25.

Ceramics
Tuesdays, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm, and Wednesdays, 6-8 pm
Cost $2 per session plus supplies. Great gifts and lots of fun ideas for Christmas. Once you get started, it's addictive. Instructor Wendy Mullhall

Quilting Class
Thursdays, 12:30 pm.
If you are interested in helping us with the quilt this year please come in at 12:30 on Thursdays. We are doing a very interesting quilt this year and we could use some extra help!

Creative Writing
Mondays, 12:30 pm
Write your life experiences with the help of our teacher, Sandra Buscher. She will help you with every aspect of your writing projects. Your family will appreciate having our stories to share, or you can make up stories and fairy tales, or write poetry.

Book Discussion Group

The Bethel Public Library extends an invitation to citizens to show off their small artwork or collections in display cases at the library. Call the Reference Department at the Library for more information.

"Singing Seniors"
Wednesdays, 11 am
The "Singing Seniors" are looking for a few more singing seniors to join their group. They go to senior housing and nursing homes, etc. and volunteer their time to entertain and lift the spirits of those for whom they perform. If you like to sing just a little or a lot and have some free time, come and join us. The Director of this group is Helena Michaels. Contact the Senior Center for more information.

Clothing Bank
Thursdays, 9:30 am until 11 am
For more information, contact the Center. We collect good used clothing and send it to those in need. This is financially supported by St. Mary Church which started the program. Thanks, St. Mary's for keeping this going. Join us as a volunteer in this program.

Bridge, Canasta, Cribbage, Rummy, Mah Jong, Poker, Pinochle, Billiards, Puzzle Making, Holiday Parties, Day and Extended Trips.

Mah Jong

Ellie Preisig is the leader of this program. She would like to welcome you at any time for games.

Canasta
Thursday afternoon
All levels of players are welcome to come to the center to play cards. If you used to play one of these games and want a refresher course, you are welcome to come and we will help you.

Hand and Foot Canasta - NEW!

Everyone is playing it in Florida - come in and learn how on Thursday morning.

Pool (Billiards) Players
We are getting some new people in that are playing pool - so come and join them any afternoon (except for the third Wednesday of the month) for some fun in our Library rec room. We have a great pool table.

Shuffleboard Club
Mondays and Thursdays, 1 pm
Calling all Shuffleboard lovers. Start getting into shape for the competition with our new Shuffleboard Table in our Library/Red Room. We'd love to have you come in, bring a friend, and have a little fun playing shuffleboard. Ask Kathy for the pucks.
