To Disconnect your service, you must contact the Public Works Office 24 hours in advance to schedule an inspection of the termination of service. Sewer Department This department maintains the Municipal sewer mains located within the Town to ensure compliance with both state and federal regulations. The Town of Bethel does not have it's own sewage treatment plant and is currently operating under an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Danbury to send its municipal sewage to their treatment facility. The daily capacity allowance as per the Interlocal agreement is 2,000,000 gallons per day.
Currently there is a town-wide moratorium to connect to the Bethel Sewer System while the Town completes the Sewer Capacity Study. All potential applicants must appear before the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) with their application. To contact the Public Utilities Commission please contact the Secretary in the Public Works office and request to be added to the agenda for the next meeting. Agendas are set the Wednesday before the following Monday Meeting. All PUC meetings take place the first Monday of each month unless otherwise stated. They start at 5 pm and are held in Meeting Room A of the Town Hall (unless otherwise stated.)
