The Transfer Station is located off Route 53 on Sympaug Park Road, 1 Sympaug Park Road - (Behind the HighwayDepartment).

The office hours of operation are as follows:
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Lunch time closed Approximately 12:00 noon - 12:45 pm

The Transfer Station is open only to Bethel Residents and valid permit is required to use this facility. To obtain the annual permit, which is $50.00/year/car, please stop by the Town Clerk's office located on the first floor of the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center, across from the Tax Assessor's office.
Note: There is a Senior Citizen discount, if you or a member of your household is over the age of 65, the annual fee is $40.00.
If you would like to purchase a second permit for a vehicle registered at the same address the fee is $10.00

Taxpayers with an annual permit may deliver residential garbage and recyclables directly to the Transfer Station. Please see the Transfer Station Fees Schedule for other types of acceptable waste and fees for their disposal.

The Transfer Station does accept brush and tree limbs. There is a fee for this service.

No Electronics or Large Items - For Large Items Call 1-800-958-7825

Please Note: No construction debris is accepted at the Bethel Transfer Station. All household remodeling debris must be taken to the Danbury Transfer Station on White Street.

*Check with Transfer Station Employees before recycling

- Motor vehicle lead acid batteries – $7.00
- Newspapers with inserts – “What comes with the paper stays with paper”
- Magazines and glossy catalogs
- Phone books – Junk Mail – Shredded Paper
- DRY/CLEAN – Corrugated Cardboard ONLY
- #1 & #2 Plastic food and beverage containers MUST BE CLEAN
- Metal and glass food and beverage containers MUST BE CLEAN
- Bulky waste, including Carpets, Mattresses, etc. – See Fee Schedule
- Leaves with proof of residency also NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
- Brush FOR A FEE
- Computers - Cell phones (E-Waste); PROOF OF RESIDENCY

- NO SHOE BOXES – CEREAL BOXES – PIZZA BOXES – GIFT BOXES
- Grass clippings – Leave them on your lawn
- Plastic Grocery Bags – Return them to your local Grocery Store
- Demolition Materials / Construction Debris
- Oil based paint – Bring to Household Hazardous Waste Event

Transfer Station Permits will become available in the Town Clerk's office. Forms may be obtained online here.

Please note: When Public Schools Are Closed Due To Inclement Weather, The Transfer Station Will Be Closed This Includes Saturdays, Due To Snow Removal.

You may request a permit through the mail. Please send a check made payable to the Bethel Town Clerk along with a self addressed stamped envelope to Town Clerk, 1 School Street, Bethel, CT 06801. Please include your name, address, and make model and license plate number of the vehicle you will be using.

Household Hazardous Day Cleanup is held the second or third Saturday in September. Please contact the Health Department for more information.
