Paving Schedule for Roads
Sewer Project, Contract 2 - Walnut Hill Road- Benedict Road - Chimney Drive

Dear Resident:
The Town of Bethel Highway Department has completed repairs and installation of storm water drainage on the phase 2 sewer sections of Walnut Hill Road, Benedict Road and Chimney Drive. The following schedule includes information that you will find useful during this process. Please be aware that the road will be closed daily to through traffic during our operations, although emergency and school bus traffic will not be interrupted. Residents that live within the project will have access. Please drive carefully, as you may encounter short delays. The daily road closures assist us in providing a safe work zone for our employees and completion of the project in a timely manner.
The scope of this project will include a full depth reclamation of the bituminous surface and subgrade materials, grading and compaction of the reclaimed material, and the application of liquid calcium chloride. This will leave a loose gravel road surface for a short period of time. A two layer bituminous overlay will be installed over the gravel surface, followed by the installation of driveway aprons to match the new road surface. Curbing will be installed in areas that are prone to erosion, and areas that cause water run off problems.
While the road is being prepared for the bituminous overlay, airborne dust from the gravel surface may occur. We will make every attempt to keep this occurrence at a minimum. You may encounter short delays while traveling on the road. Please keep in mind that the safeties of our employees as well as the residents are our primary concern. We will work diligently to ensure that this project is completed in a timely manner, although conditions such as weather, equipment failures and schedules for contracted services can affect our proposed schedule.
