H1N1 Influenza A (Swine Flu) Information
TThe state Department of Public Health (DPH) announced that a second manufacturer of the H1N1 vaccine has voluntarily recalled 4.7 million doses of the vaccine due to low antigen levels. Connecticut received 67,400 doses of the recalled vaccine and over 300 providers have been affected by the recall. There is no safety concern with the lots that are being recalled.

The Towns of Bethel, Redding and Ridgefield work together as the Region 6 Mass Dispensing Area (MDA), one of 41 MDAs in the State of Connecticut for emergency preparedness.

General H1N1 Vaccine Safety Information:
- We expect the 2009 H1N1 Influenza vaccine to have a similar safety profile as seasonal flu vaccines, which have very good safety track records.
- CDC expects that any serious side effects following vaccination with the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine would be rare.
- (Updated) The types and frequencies of side effects from the 2009 H1N1 vaccine will likely be similar to those experiences following seasonal influenza vaccines which are mils, localized reactions.
