Office of the First Selectman
First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker and his wife Adrienne moved to Bethel from the Mid-west in 1979. He served in several volunteer positions within the Bethel Public School system and was elected to the Board of Education in 1999. He was reelected to the school board twice, serving a total of ten years, with seven years as its Chairman. Matt also served as president of the Bethel Jaycees from 1994 to 1995. He also has been a Bethel Parks and Recreation coach for girls’ T-ball and softball and was a trustee for The Maritime Aquarium from 2005-2007. The First Selectman's office is the chief administrative office of the Town of Bethel. From this office the Board of Selectmen carries out the legislative duties of the Town of Bethel. Additionally, the First Selectman's office handles the rental of Bennett Memorial Park, programs the Town's cable billboard on Channel 24, organizes the Summer Concert Series, and issues vending permits and passes to fish in Bethel's reservoirs.
